Day 4 – Gold Cup Day

Day 4 is the final day of the Cheltenham Festival and draws a reluctant close to four days of some of the finest racing available in the UK.

There are 6 very fine races today starting with the 13:30 JCB Triumph Hurdle, a Grade 1 race run over 2 miles and 1 furlong with 8 fences to navigate and culminating with the final race of the meet – the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup Handicap – which runs at 17:15 over a distance of 2 miles and 110 yards with 14 fences to jump.

Of course the feature race for day 4 is the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which is also the feature race of the whole Cheltenham meet, and features the finest racehorses in Britain and Ireland battling it out for the largest purse of the meet.

34 horses will race over 3 miles 2 furlongs and 110 yards, jumping 22 fences. This is a race for pure thoroughbreds!
